The Burnout Brain

Uh oh, guess who's getting silly again!?

Gah, I'm sorry. I felt compelled to post something to pull myself together and work through this last week or two of *vaguely gestures*

When my brain asks me "if a tree falls down and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?", before I have a chance to answer, it yells at me "NO, IT DOES NOT". Something that I deeply struggle with is the belief that unseen labor means I'm doing NO labor. Of course, I rationally know that isn't true, but somewhere it got ingrained in me that folks can only comprehend the end result and not the process to get there. Finished artwork, chores and housework, healthy habits, etc. So when things take me longer than usual or art block prevents me from performing to my standards, I freak out. Self-accusations of laziness fly, I get extra neurotic and self-isolating, it's a familiar dance by now. I thought I could just jump back into hyper-productivity right after moving, unaware that the cost and work of moving itself took a lot out of me and I haven't really stopped to process that yet.

All this to say, I think I might need to take a couple days off before leaving next week to go work at the con in Vegas. A short delay in the comics and commissions will happen to make room for me to get my entire table organized and packed, plus some traditional artwork to sell.

Thanks for being such an understanding bunch. I just wanna do you right and give you everything I can for supporting me! As always, more to come ASAP and see you in a little bit 🌻
