Hooked! Ch07 Mid August Report

Hey everyone! Bit of a boring update today, sadly. This month I've been working really hard on getting these translations implemented:

Japanese

Chinese (Simplified)

Chinese (Tradition)

There will also be Spanish, Russian, and Korean. I started with Japanese and Chinese because the asian ones are the most troublesome to get to work with the software I was using to convert between Renpy's translation files, and google sheets. The translators work in google sheets, so they need to be converted back and forth.

It's been a journey so far for sure. In the end, I couldn't get it to work with the conversion software I was using. It could convert chinese from .rpy to .csv, but not the other way around. I couldn't find a solution, so I wrote my own software. That of course took time as well, but it at least would guarantee progress, and ensure that I wouldn't have to repeat a bunch of manual line-by-line fixing.

I've been testing the translations, and so far I've only gotten Japanese and Chinese (Simplified) to work properly. Fonts are a surprisingly huge pain. Long story short: Translating is a massive hassle, and I keep finding stuff that breaks the translations. But! I also keep finding things that work! So that's great.

It's a bit of a let-down that the only thing I can really show off is some screenshots and translated UI assets, but that's the nature of translation. It's just text.
