National Geographic of Neo England: Phlegethon

Phlegethon

Yuggoth’s south pole is rather geologically violent, with frequent collapses, subsidence and Plinian eruption rendering much of the southern hemisphere, aptly named Phlegethon, uninhabitable.

Phlegethon is scarred by fissures thousands of miles long and deep down to the mantle. The incandescent magma and volcanic gases emanating from within create a strong greenhouse effect, which allows the dwarf planet on the edge of the solar system to maintain atmosphere, temperature and water cycle otherwise impossible given its size and distance from the Sun.

Archimedes Orbital Station

Forty years ago, DMAIC engineer cyberdoll Celia piloted the Archimedes transport ship from Titan colony to Yuggoth,  ferrying a swarm of industrial drones. Upon entering orbit, Celia remodeled the ship into a synchronous orbital station to serve as engineering command headquarters until the construction of Neo Kingsport was completed and the first colonists arrived.

Archimedes station now functions as a communications and weather satellite, equipped with laboratories and drop pods for space research and orbital supply when necessary.
