Update (October 2022)

Published 10/13/2022, 12:09:33 PM

These months go by too fast, Christ.

Progress has been significantly slower than I would have hoped; a lot of things required a concerning amount of cleaning up, some shots were fundamentally flawed and had to be scrapped, and others were created to replace them. For reference, over the past 20 days, 20 seconds of animation was scrapped (1 cam angle) and replaced with 15 seconds (2 cam angles) of animation. I'm sure this borders somewhere between pedantic and clinically insane, but the line tends to blur.

Given the amount of key animation left to clean up and finalize before I can get started on simulation/lighting/etc., I genuinely have no clue how long it'll take to complete the whole animation. I can imagine this is about as disappointing to read as it is to type, so I've made the choice to segment the animation and essentially finalize each section in small chunks. This way, at the very least there'll be something to show from time to time.

The 15 sec clip I'm working on at the moment is the first on the list, and if the stars align and I manage to maintain some competency, there should be some actual animation to see by the end of this month. It'll depend a lot on how painful the simulation pipeline is, so I won't make any promises.

Until then, have a good one.
