The Ritual: Chapter Update (July)

We got more updates on The Ritual!!

I promise it's more substantial this time!

Art: Once again, the art department gets more love this month (I'll explain why in the Script section.) We set a goal to finish the assets for the Ritual scene, the first of two big spicy scenes for the chapter. It's definitely not the most "art-dense" scene, that's reserved for the final scene (aka, the next big goal), but it gets us that one big step closer to the finish line! I'll attach a few sampler bits of the art below, so you can see what's cookin' for the final product!

Like I mentioned in the past, this chapter specifically focuses on Lilith, so you're gonna get two big scenes featuring her. I think the plan for now is that she's the main romance option (doesn't mean we won't get kinky scenes of the others, they just aren't "central characters") But yeah, she'll definitely get the lion's share of the scenes as this game develops, so lemme know how you're liking her!

Script: So, I realized back in May that - as an inexperienced scene writer - this department is definitely my weakest link. I might end up spending an entire day on writing a single scene, and it all still ends up being trashed, resulting in a lost day of work. I came to the realization that - since the art wasn't going to change - I should tackle all of that before putting anymore serious work into the script...

That said, we haven't done nothing. The outline continues to be tweaked and reworked to simplify overcomplications and keep the story consistent (I know, I know..."it's a kinky VN, stupid, don't overthink it!") But I do want the story to be somewhat good, so we're locking in the intent of each scene before we take another big crack at the script. There was a fully finished 1st draft, but as the story's largely changed from that, the whole thing's pretty much gotta be combed over to account for any major rewrites. Luckily, I don't think too much of the actual spicy scenes need major changes, but the connective tissue in between is where the real work has to happen.

That's all we've got for now. Plenty left to do, but I'm still confident that we'll be able to have it done before the end of the year! Stay tuned!
