Daily Ramble

These past two months I’ve been working on new stories instead of continuing previous series. It’s not because I want to keep everyone hanging. Every time I try to decide which series to continue, my thoughts get completely tangled and I can’t figure out how to move forward. I end up stuck in that loop for a long time, until the deadline forces me to start working or I’ll never finish on time. At that point I can only choose a new story that already has a relatively clear direction. That’s how we ended up here.

I’d like to talk about the series that are still unfinished:

Breakout can be considered finished. Breakout Sequel is in a state where it could continue or stop.

False Honour is officially finished. There might be side stories later, but the main story is complete.

Moonlight is also finished. A lot of people feel it could continue, but for now I don’t have plans for that.

Judy has a lot of variety in content and the chapters are relatively independent, so there’s plenty of room to expand later. But story-wise there’s not much that needs continuous development.

So the ones that really need discussion right now are Little Sister, Shadow Game, Home Visit, and Carnal Weaver.

Home Visit There isn’t much to say about this one. The story is based on an original novel, and the author and I expanded some of the background settings and the ending together. As long as I follow that direction, it’s fine. The last update was in January this year. In about two months I’ll start working on the next chapter.

Carnal Weaver This is a new series I started last year and updated three times. The story structure isn’t particularly strong—it’s more like an episodic format without a long continuous plot. That said, I’ve always wanted to tell how the two main characters got started back then, and what happens with the agency later on. For future plans, I’m thinking of combining the remake of A Busy Day with Carnal Weaver. A Busy Day got a decent number of votes in the remake poll, and the settings of the two stories are somewhat similar, so it makes sense to merge them.

Shadow Game This series hasn’t been updated for a very long time. The last update (Shadow Game 4) was in April 2024. I actually had a relatively clear plan for it before, and I personally like the setting a lot. But in every “what should I make next” vote, Shadow Game never gets many votes, which made me feel like maybe people don’t really like the story. On the other hand, quite a few people have told me they want to see the continuation. So now I’m a bit confused about whether everyone actually wants it or not… Because of that, I never moved forward with the next part, and the later plot has gradually become fuzzy in my mind. I’d like to hear your thoughts: Do you want to see the continuation of Shadow Game? Should I stop the series, or keep going? (If I continue, there will probably be at least several more parts.)

Little Sister This is probably my most well-known work. Whether it’s the view counts before the Pixiv account got banned, the amount of discussion, or the first thing many people think of when they mention my work, Little Sister is always at the top. Especially a few years ago, every time I updated this series, the number of sponsors grew the fastest.

But that’s also the reason for the awkward situation it’s in now. When I made the first part, I treated it as a complete story. Later I got the idea to make a second part, so I brought in Claire and Katherine and kept going. Because the later plot was also well-received, I continued making it. This series had absolutely no outline. Every time I made a new part, I didn’t think about what the next one would be—I just made one at a time. And because it always brought more sponsorships, I never really wanted it to end too quickly when planning. So it continued on and off until the 13th episode, with a large number of new characters and content introduced along the way, making it look difficult to wrap up now.

Especially after Katherine turned the tables on Claire, took the skin gun, and gained the dominant position, the reactions became very polarized—some people liked it, some really disliked it, and every episode brought a fair amount of criticism. After I released Little Sister 13 last June, one person who was unhappy with the plot immediately uploaded the full comic to a piracy forum, saying “Hate for paying for this.” Although I know the vast majority of supporters are kind and generous, that incident left a deep psychological scar. Combined with my Pixiv account getting banned for the first time in May last year, that period was really tough.

After that, every time I thought about continuing Little Sister, those memories would come back and I’d lose a bit of courage. But I also know that more people are waiting for it to continue and hoping it can have an ending. So I still need to carefully think about the later plot and development, and try my best to give this story a decent conclusion. I hope I can manage it, and I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me.

One more personal feeling: Sometimes I pay too much attention to criticism and end up ignoring the affirmation from everyone. Then I start deliberately trying to please some of the critics, and in the process lose the things people originally liked. I’m not sure if this is just my imagination, but it’s definitely not the right approach. For example, earlier I saw someone on a piracy forum saying I was obsessed with elf, monster, and slime skins. I started reflecting on whether I’d been making too many of these more niche, bizarre things. But later a friend told me that what he actually likes is that I keep opening up new playstyles and ideas. I suddenly realized that the people who like and support me do so precisely because my content matches their preferences and tastes. So as long as I keep thinking, keep innovating, and produce work that I can feel proud of, people will like it. I still need to widely listen to feedback while maintaining my own creative direction and pace.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I completely ignore everyone’s opinions. I just wanted to express my current thoughts to give myself some confidence. At the same time, I also need to keep working hard on new things—videos, more interesting plots, more playstyles, and so on.

Alright, I feel like I’ve already talked too much. The main reason is that I’ve been thinking about the future of these series a lot lately, to the point where it started making me question life a bit, so I just needed to get it off my chest.

Going forward I’ll try to better balance the update rhythm between new series and older ones. And of course, I’m always open to your valuable feedback!
